National Television Awards

This years National Television Awards sees Doctor Who And Torchwood go head to head. They are both up for the Best Drama award along with 34 other programmes whilst David Tennant, John Barrowman and Eve Myles are all up for awards in the best Drama Performance category along with 45 other contenders.

To vote go to the National Television Awards website.

Make sure you vote for any Who related nominations!

I found it quite difficult to choose between Torchwood and Doctor Who for best drama. Children of Earth was even better than most Who episodes but I want Doctor Who to continue to win countless awards so went for that.

Sarah Jane Adventures: Series Three Transmission Dates

This months Doctor Who magazine has confirmed the long rumoured start date of October 15th for series 3 of The Sarah Jane Adventures.
The next episode will air the following day on BBC1.
It isn’t clear if the second episode will be shown on CBBC straight after the first as in previous years but it is highly unlikely.

The schedule should therefore be as follows…

Prisoner of the Judoon Episode 1 – Thursday Oct 15th
Prisoner of the Judoon Episode 2 – Friday Oct 16th
The Mad Woman in the Attic Episode 1 – Thursday Oct 22nd
The Mad Woman in the Attic Episode 2 – Friday Oct 23rd
The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith Episode 1 – Thursday Oct 29th
The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith Episode 2 – Friday Oct 30th
The Eternity Trap Episode 1 – Thursday Nov 5th
The Eternity Trap Episode 2 – Friday Nov 6th
Monalisa’s Revenge Episode 1 – Thursday Nov 12th
Monalisa’s Revenge Episode 2 – Friday Nov 13th
The Gift Episode 1 – Thursday Nov 19th
The Gift Episode 2 – Friday Nov 20th

So it`s four weeks from tomorrow until Series Three begins.
Not sure how I feel about the new format though - it means the series won`t last as along.

Although, I believe the reason they`re doing this is that as we know, David Tennant is in The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith and so, if they air The Waters of Mars on Halloween night (Which I predicted some time ago), we will have a big Tenth Doctor weekend:

Thursday 29th October - The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith Part 1
Friday 30th October - The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith Part 2
Saturday 31st October - The Waters of Mars

And in other SJA news, joining the cast in the final episode are Miriam Margoyles (Blackadder) and Simon Callow who will be providing their voices for the series finale as Blathereen.
Simon Callow isn't new to the Whoniverse. He played Dickens in The Unquiet Dead and was considered for the part of the Eight Doctor!

Two new photos of Prisoner of the Judoon have also been released. The first can be seen at the top of this post and the second can be seen below:

New Figures!

Hi everyone,
Sorry about there being no posts lately, I haven`t had an internet connection.

I`m back now though and will be catching up on news over the next few days.
So, to kick things off, here is some very exciting figure news:

Four exciting new Doctor Who figure sets have been spotted in Tesco stores.
These previously unannouned sets contain three figures and are in all new packaging.

The contents are as follows:
Series One Figure Set: The Ninth Doctor, Jabe and Sycorax Warrior
Series Two Figure Set: The Tenth Doctor with ghost triangulation gear, Hoix and Cyber Controller
Series Three Figure Set: Uncoated Captain Jack, Time Lord and Korwin
Cyberman Figure Set: "Tenth Planet" Cyberman, "Tomb of the Cybermen" Cybermen and "Invasion" Cyberman

So whilst the Series One and Two set's are just re-releases, the Series Three set (finally) includes the mysterious Korwin and uncoated Jack.
We also have a great set for army-building the brilliant classic Cybermen!

The sets have been seen as of Monday 14th September and so far have only been spotted in Tesco stores and therefore there are rumours that these sets are exclusive to Tesco. However, this is not confirmed and if they were, one would imagine that Tesco would be mentioning it or it would be on the packaging. Besides, back in January, Argos got the new figures in before anyone else so this may be a similar case.

The RRP of the sets is £19.99 but unbelievebly, they are on sale for just ten pounds!
That's a great deal!

However, this is slightly bad news for some. Many people have spent small fortune's on Korwin and uncoated Jack figures because of the worry of them never being released.

No need to worry if you're Tesco doesn't have the sets in, Tesco staff have told some people that some Tesco's may be yet to recieve their deliveries. As well as that, there is the chance that other shops will be selling them.

Apparently, excluding the Pertwee figures next month, these are the last figures of the year and for a year which was supposed to be quiet for figures, we've done very well.
We've had:
The Vespiform Wave
The Gelth Wave
The Cyber Wave
The First Doctor pack (In colour and black and white)
The Second Doctor pack (In colour and black and white)
Real Time Sixth Doctor
Regeneration Sixth Doctor
Fourth Doctor Adventure Set
Dalek Collectors Set #2
Two John Pertwee pack's

Not bad at all.

And who knows (If you'll excuse the pun) what's in store for next year...

Series Five Filming!

Filming was at Neath Abbey today

You can see photos and read about it here.
Nothing exciting though.

There is also a newspaper report here:

DOCTOR Who’s cast and crew yesterday descended on ancient South Wales ruins.

The Time Lord’s flame-haired assistant, Karen Gillan, was spotted at Neath Abbey on Wednesday, flanked by two colleagues and wearing little more than a towelling dressing gown.

It appeared as though the crumbling site, which dates back to 1129 AD, had been transformed into a complete structure for the sci-fi show.

An onlooker told the Western Mail that giant windows were created out of grey “screens” and that extras – children wearing black robes or dirty clothes – were positioned inside.

Only Scottish actress Gillan, 21, who will play Amy Pond in the coming series of the drama, could be seen at the makeshift set. The Doctor, played by Matt Smith, was concealed by a security guard and large umbrella, the fan said.

Cast from the hit BBC Wales programme are expected to return to the former friary later today.

Update!

Hi all,

First of all I would just like to apologise for the lack of posts recently.
I have been so unbelievably busy and to make it all worse, I went back to school yesterday making me even more busy.

Luckily, there hasn't been much news but there has been a little which I will catch up with soon.

The NTTAS Magazine is postponed until further notice. I'm just too busy and I need to completely restart the issue as the news in it is from July.

The redesign of the blog is coming along nicely but I'm not sure about it. It's more professional but I do like this design.
It will probably go ahead though. Not sure when. Probably November.

I'm also working on another very exciting feature for the blog which will allow you to interact with the blog.
That's all I can say for now.
I'm hoping to launch it alongside the launch of the new design.
Hopefully the other new pages will also be ready then too so we can have a sort of mega-launch for the new design, "interactive thing", new pages and maybe even the magazine.
There's so much to look forward to.

Oh, and I also forgot.
I'm considering doing an advent calendar here on the blog in December.
I know alot of people do that so I wanted to know what you lot think. Would you like it?
Also, would any of you be willing to contribute to the advent calendar?

Thanks everyone

The Dalek War Boxset!

The cover for the upcoming Dalek War boxset has now been released and can be seen below.

The set will include the Jon Pertwee adventures "Frontier in Space" and "Planet of the Daleks" and is packed to the rim with special features.

Frontier in Space

When the TARDIS accidentally brings the Doctor and Jo aboard Earth cargo ship C982, they find it under attack. The crew perceive the Doctor, Jo and the attackers as Draconians, whose empire currently rivals Earth’s for control of the galaxy. But the Doctor and Jo see only Ogrons – brutish, simian mercenaries who steal the cargo, including the TARDIS, and head off into space.

The Doctor’s investigations take him to Earth, the Moon and then to Draconia itself. He discovers that the Ogrons are employed by his sworn enemy, the Master, who is attempting to provoke a war between the space empires. The Doctor suspects the scale of the plan is too grand for the Master, but even he is shocked to discover the identity of the far deadlier foe waiting in the wings…

Planet of the Daleks

Injured after a shoot-out between his old nemesis the Master and the Ogrons, slaves to the evil Daleks, the Doctor sends a message to the Time Lords, asking them to pilot his TARDIS and follow the Daleks to their new base. After he slips into a coma, it falls to his assistant Jo Grant to explore the planet where the TARDIS finally materialises. She meets a party of Thals and is left in hiding aboard their crashed spaceship while they go to the Doctor’s aid. On his recovery, the Doctor learns of their mission to destroy a party of Daleks sent here to discover the native Spiridons’ secret of invisibility.

Not only must the Doctor contend with the Daleks’ new scheme, but he must try to stop them unleashing a plague that will exterminate all organic life. When a rescue ship of Thals arrive, they bring with them darker news still – somewhere on Spiridon 12,000 Daleks are waiting to emerge and take what they believe is their rightful place as the Universe’s supreme beings!

Code of the Krillitanes!

The next book in the Doctor Who Quick Reads range has now been announced.
The book which is written by Justin Richards is called "Code of the Krillitanes" and will see The Tenth Doctor battle the bat-like creatures yet again.

"I blame those new Brainy Crisps. Since he started eating them, he’s been too clever by half.”

Can eating a bag of crisps really make you more clever? The company that makes the crisps says so, and they seem to be right.

But the Doctor is worried. Who would want to make people more brainy? And why?

With just his sonic screwdriver and a supermarket trolley full of crisps, the Doctor sets out to find the truth. The answer is scary – the Krillitanes are back on Earth, and everyone is at risk!

Last time they took over a school. This time they have hijacked the internet. Whatever they are up to, it’s big and it’s nasty.

Only the Doctor can stop them – if he isn’t already too late...

The book will be sold at the RRP of £1.99 and is due for release on 4th March 2010.

I'm Back!

Hi Everyone!
I'm back from my holiday.
Sorry that I`m back a little later than I was supposed to be.
I came back on Monday like I was supposed to but was too busy to get online.
Then when I was unpacking on Tuesday, we got a call from the campsite we keep our caravan on saying that they have had strong winds and our awning has fallen down and has basically been destroyed.
So we had to go all the way back (A two hour journey) and take it down. We then stayed overnight and came back on Wednesday. Still didn't get chance to come online then but I'm back now!

I`d just like to thank Chandra.
I`m sure you`ll agree he did an absolutely fantastic job!
I don`t know what I would of done without him!
So thanks Chandra and sorry I was away a little longer than I should have been meaning you still had to do the posts!

I`m still a little busy unpacking so may be a little late posting news but I should be back on track tomorrow!

Thanks all (especially Chandra)!

YOUR Greatest Doctor Who Moments

Over the past few weeks we've been treated to a feast of fantastic clips in Doctor Who's Greatest Moments and stars like David Tennant and Freema Agyeman have discussed why certain scenes hold a place in their hearts.

But what about you?

The BBC Doctor Who Webiste want to hear which moments brought a tear to your eye, a lump to your throat or made you punch the air with glee. It could be any scene from the show's history.

Does the Doctor meeting Rose for the first time still make you smile? Does the Second Doctor talking to Victoria about his parents make you sad - in a good way! Or possibly your moment is Sarah Jane finding the Tenth Doctor after so many years apart - or meeting the Third Doctor for the very first time? The Master watching Teletubbies in 2007 or enjoying The Clangers in 1972?

But most importantly they want to know why they're your greatest moments. Was it the scene where you realised David Tennant was going to be a brilliant Doctor? Or the scene that first got you hooked on Doctor Who? A joke that always makes you laugh, a farewell that forever makes you cry? A villain's gloat that continually sends a shiver down your spine! The more emotion the better!

Over the next few weeks they'll be putting several clips online from scenes that you identify as your greatest moments. They'll run them alongside your thoughts and memories, so get telling them what they are! Here.

EDIT: This has now closed.

Chandra.

Doctor Who - Greatest Moments: The Enemies reminder

Just a reminder that tonight at 8pm on BBC3 is the Doctor Who: Greatest Moments - The Enemies, the last in the special documentary series about Doctor Who since it's revival in 2005. A review is below.

Magisterial Derek Jacobi - a coup for this breezy, short-run series - laments not having more time to "indulge in the criminality and villainy of the Master". Zoe Wanamaker talks for the first time about voicing the "witty and naughty" Lady Cassandra. Sarah Parish, Mark Gatiss and Lesley Sharp recall their thrill at playing the villain, and we see the human faces behind Sycorax and Sontarans. This could serve as a comforter for any tots still terrorised by Who's menagerie of monsters and miscreants.

Radio Times reviewer - Patrick Mulkern

Really sorry about the lack of news over the last two or so days. I'm trying as hard as I can to find some for you!

Chandra.
